Packing....UGH!

After my last post about living a simple life here in Grenada, I decided to scan my house to see ways I could declutter my own space some more. Over the last year of being here I have accumulated alot of school/work related supplies. Things like crayons, pencils, board games, play dough, construction paper, poster board, paint and chalk. It sits on my unused kitchen table staring at me like "please use me". I promise I will use those supplies soon and declutter that kitchen table.

On to room number two (I only have two) where I discovered the ridiculousness of to much stuff. Just when I was boasting about living simply I find a stack of clothes I haven't worn in the last 6 months. Seriously Mackenzie? Let me explain a bit though. Since joining the Peace Corps I have lost 30 pounds, making it necessary to build an entire new wardrobe. I compiled 4 bags of clothes to donate to the Grenada Council for the Disabled, but they currently sit by the door, anxiously awaiting new owners. I thought I had eliminated all the clothes that I wasn't wearing...and then I found more clothes. WHERE DO THESE CLOTHES COME FROM???? Frustrated, I started finding clothes all over the place, none of which I remember owning or even wearing. Fail on the decluttering. Thankfully I made a new pile of clothes to send to GCD which WILL make it there this time.

The point of this post was important, I promise. I am currently packing for a trip to St. Lucia this week for Mid-Service training. The Peace Corps likes to check in with its volunteers frequently with refresher trainings on various topics, usually 3-4 times during service. This week EC 81 will be traveling to St. Lucia for our year-in training, medical check ups and good times. By good times I mean sitting in a training room all day listening to trainers lecture. WOOHOO!!!! You're jealous, I can tell. Did I mention St. Lucia has beautiful beaches?

After being in St. Lucia for 4 days, a couple of us volunteers will be venturing to Dominica (not to be confused with the Dominican Republic) to visit some of our volunteer friends. Dominica is the nature island and I'm interested to see how much different it is than Grenada. It will prove to be pure debauchery I'm sure.

I hope you all have a good week, as I probably won't be around to update til after my island hopping adventure is over. Wish me luck!!!

Always serving,
Mack
